What is a Financial Services Guide?

This Financial Services Guide (FSG) is an important document. You should read it carefully and make sure you understand it.

This FSG is designed to help you decide whether to use any of the services provided by us and is issued by Discovery Alert Pty Limited ACN 652 299 306 (referred to as Discovery Alertweus or our).


This FSG includes information about:

  • Discovery Alert and how we can be contacted;
  • the financial services we are authorised under our Australian financial services license to provide as a Corporate Authorised Representative;
  • who are our authorised representatives;
  • how we are paid;
  • any relevant relationships or associations;
  • how we deal with complaints that you may have about our services;
  • information about internal and external dispute resolution systems and how you can access them; and
  • the compensation arrangements that we have in place.

 

Who are Discovery Alert?

Discovery Alert is an online subscription-based service. The subscription provides members with alerts of potential mineral discoveries and provides analysis on ASX announcements. The subscription includes features such as, alerts, articles, analyst reports, audio, video content and other generally informative information related to the services on Discovery Alert’s website.

All of our commentary, statements of opinion, interpretations and recommendations in relation to financial products, ASX announcements and ASX company projects, whether in our publications or otherwise, contain only general advice. That is, those statements of opinion and recommendations have been prepared without taking into account your personal objectives, financial situation or needs. How are any fees, commissions or other benefits calculated?

Services

The prices or areas or prices reffered to below are subject to change. Subscription fees are due in advance and unless otherwise specified in the product’s terms of service, are non-refundable. Paid subscriptions automatically renew, until you cancel your subscription via the Subscription page within the Account‘s page on the Discovery Alert website.

 

Free Discovery Alert Service

We may offer the Discovery Alert service freely to individuals who subscribe to our Free service by providing us with a valid email address and phone number, this service is provided on a delay to the paid subscription referred to below.


Paid Discovery Alert Service

Discovery Alert is an online subscription-based service. The subscription provides members with alerts of potential discoveries and company projects which look to have promise. The subscription includes features such as, analyst reports, audio and video content and other generally informative information related to the service. The standard cost of a one-year subscription can be found on our Join Page. The subscription fee may change from time to time as a result of promotional offers or increasing subscription rates.


Remuneration

Discovery Alert is renumerated by its subscribers via its Paid Discovery Alert Service.


From time to time, Discovery Alert delivers analysis via various distribution platforms on companies in which Discovery Alert has been engaged with. Discovery Alert will provide analysis over a period that has been defined by the agreed engagement between Discovery Alert and the company. During the engagement period Discovery Alert will update readers and viewers via all distribution platforms of noteworthy communication as deemed by Discovery Alert. The agreed terms of the engagement will mean that Discovery Alert is remunerated by cash or company securities, this will be clearly noted at the beginning of our analysis of a company.


Employees of Discovery Alert who provide analysis or other advise are remunerated by salary. They may also be entitled to a bonus based on the financial performance of Discovery Alert.


You may request particulars of the remuneration or other benefits received by Discovery Alert, any other member of Discovery Alert, or their respective directors, employees, contractors or associates in relation to the provision of a financial service by Discovery Alert to you. Such a request must be made within a reasonable time after you have received a copy of this FSG and before any financial services identified in this FSG have been provided to you.


What relationships or associations do we have that might influence our advice?

Discovery Alert and its associated entities, and their respective directors, associates, connected parties and/or employees may from time to time deal in or otherwise have a financial interest in equities and other financial products referred to in its publications or other general financial advice it provides.


Similarly, it will be disclosed to you if Discovery Alert has a beneficial interest of greater than 5% in any share alerted to you. Any such interest will be disclosed to you in the discovery alert research report which is provided to subscribers within 5-days business days of the alert or clearly noted at the beginning of our analysis of a company which Discovery Alert has an agreed engagement with. Furthermore, if any directors of Discovery Alert are company directors of an analysis report which is deemed an alert to subscribers, they will be notified of this relationship within the said analysis report on the same terms as the above.


You should review any disclosures made in particular publications as to interests Discovery Alert may have in the financial products referred to in the publication. Similarly, our affiliates may have positions in the securities mentioned in our publications. Because we have no non-public knowledge of our affiliates’ holdings, such interests are not disclosed.


All employees of Discovery Alert including those who prepare research and other advice, are subject to a code of conduct and rules for their personal trading activities. Our major trading rule is:


  • Employees cannot trade based on advance knowledge of information that will be published or broadcast by Discovery Alert &;
  • Securities received by Discovery Alert as part of its renumeration have a voluntarily blackout and holding condition of 15 callander days from any alert sent to its subscribers.

Neither Discovery Alert, nor any other member of Discovery Alert, has otherwise any associations or relationships with the issuers of any products that might reasonably be expected to be capable of influencing Discovery Alert in the advice it gives.


How we handle complaints

Discovery Alert is committed to fair and transparent dealings with its clients. We have established complaints handling procedures to ensure that all enquiries and complaints are properly considered and dealt with.


Internal complaints resolution process

In order to investigate a complaint effectively you should provide to us your contact details and any relevant documents and other information that may support your complaint and its resolution.

After we receive your complaint, we will acknowledge the receipt of your complaint by way of post, email or telephone and address your complaint promptly. If we determine that your complaint is justified, we will then decide what action should be taken in response. Possible steps include rectifying any mistake, providing you with additional information or documentation to enable you to understand what happened and how we have dealt with it or amending our policies, procedures or systems if a systemic or recurring problem has been identified.

The length of time we will take to resolve your complaint will depend on the nature and complexity of the issue you have raised, and the extent of the enquiries required to enable those issues to be addressed. We will endeavor to resolve the majority of complaints within 10 business days of receiving a complaint. For complaints that require further investigation or additional information from you or for any reason there is a delay in resolving the complaint, we will notify you within 10 business days of the date we receive the complaint and give you an indication of when we will resolve the complaint.


External complaints resolution process

External complaints may be submitted to the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA). AFCA provides fair and independent financial services complaint resolution that is free to consumers.

Our compensation arrangements

Our AFS licensee has professional indemnity insurance in place. This insurance meets the requirements of the Section 912B or 949B of the Corporations Act and covers the services provided by us and our representatives after they cease working with us provided we notify the of the claim when it arises, and this is done within the relevant policy period.
