RC Drill Program Promises Growth at Emerging Bluetooth Gold Prospect
Solstice Minerals (ASX: SLS) is set to continue its promising exploration program at the Bluetooth Gold Prospect with the imminent return of an RC drill rig to further define what is shaping up as a significant near-surface gold discovery in Western Australia's Eastern Goldfields.
Defining a High-Potential Gold System
The Phase III RC drilling program will build upon an impressive series of shallow gold intercepts from earlier drilling campaigns, which have already defined mineralisation over 800 metres of strike length. The most significant recent intercepts include:
- 29m @ 1.58g/t Au and 1m @ 5.32g/t Au in BTHRC016
- 20m @ 1.98g/t Au in BTHRC026
- 23m @ 1.38g/t Au in BTHRC032
- 12m @ 2.86g/t Au in BTHRC013
"Bluetooth has delivered strong near-surface gold hits in recent months," said Nick Castleden, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Solstice Minerals. "We will be looking to further define and extend the broad zones of shallowly dipping oxide gold mineralisation uncovered to date and take a look at down-plunge fold targets at the northern end of the system."
The upcoming program will comprise approximately 16 RC holes totalling 1,500 metres, designed to test and extend near-surface gold lodes while also exploring key down-plunge positions.
Favourable Geometry for Potential Mining
What makes the Bluetooth discovery particularly compelling is its geometry and accessibility. The mineralisation occurs in shallow east-dipping zones associated with oxidised folded chert, ironstone, and quartz veining. This tabular geometry appears favourable for potential open-pit extraction.
Importantly, the mineralisation starts at surface and intercepts are considered to be close to true width, which has significant implications for resource modelling and potential future mining economics.
Understanding Gold Mineralisation in Fold Structures
Gold mineralisation in fold structures represents an important geological control mechanism that is well-documented in many major gold deposits globally. At Bluetooth, the gold mineralisation broadens into a fold closure toward the north, creating an important geological control on gold distribution.
Fold structures are critical in gold exploration as they create zones of dilation and increased permeability in the rock. During deformation, folding creates spaces between rock layers that allow gold-bearing fluids to flow through and deposit gold. These structural traps are particularly effective when combined with favourable host rocks that can react with these fluids.
The east-dipping mineralised zones at Bluetooth are associated with folded chert and ironstone units. These specific rock types are chemically reactive and can facilitate gold precipitation from hydrothermal fluids. When these units are folded, they create ideal conditions for gold accumulation, particularly in the hinge zones of folds where space creation is maximised.
The upcoming drilling will specifically target down-plunge fold positions at the northern end of the system, which could potentially host higher-grade gold accumulations. This targeting strategy is based on well-established geological principles where gold tends to concentrate in predictable structural positions within fold systems.
Infrastructure Advantages
The Bluetooth Prospect enjoys significant infrastructure advantages that could accelerate any potential development pathway. The area is well-serviced by access and haul road infrastructure, with two operating mills within 100km.
This strategic location within the active and infrastructure-rich Yarri Project area, where Solstice controls over 1,650km² of highly prospective geology, provides multiple pathways to commercialisation should a viable resource be defined.
Additional Exploration at Edjudina Range
Beyond Bluetooth, Solstice is expanding its exploration efforts at the Edjudina Range gold discovery, located 24km southeast. Recent first-ever RC drilling at this prospect returned an encouraging intercept of 16m @ 1.13g/t Au.
This discovery is particularly notable as it represents completely new gold mineralisation identified through the testing of 'blind' structural targets under soil cover. The gold anomalism at Edjudina Range extends over 1km of strike and is associated with strong alteration, deformation, and quartz veining – all indicators of an active bedrock gold system.
Additional RC drilling is planned at Edjudina Range, including five follow-up holes with 50m step-outs and a scissor drillhole to better understand the geometry of the mineralisation. Results are also pending from a recently completed step-out and infill aircore campaign at the prospect.
Strong Financial Position to Support Growth
Solstice Minerals Ltd drill program is supported by a strong financial position, with $13.6 million in cash as of March 31, 2025, supplemented by an additional $2.13 million recently received via a strategic placement to Paradice Investment Management.
This financial strength allows the company to pursue a systematic approach to exploration across its portfolio of gold and copper-gold assets, including the advanced Nanadie Copper-Gold Project where an IP survey is underway and first-stage RC drilling is being designed.
Investment Potential
For investors, Solstice represents an opportunity to gain exposure to a well-funded junior explorer with multiple active projects in one of Australia's premier gold provinces. The company's focus on near-surface gold mineralisation with favourable geometry for potential open-pit mining provides a clear pathway to potential commercial development.
Key investment considerations include:
- Multiple advanced gold targets across the 1,650km² Yarri Project
- Strong financial position with over $15.7M in cash
- Near-term newsflow from ongoing drilling programs
- Strategic land position in the highly productive Eastern Goldfields
- Experienced management team with track record of discovery
The Yarri Project area has a rich history of gold production, with major gold deposits and historic mining centres proximal to Solstice's licence areas including the Deep South Mine, Safari Bore Mine, Kangaroo Bore Mine and Porphyry Gold Mine.
The company's carefully selected landholdings are strategically positioned close to existing mining operations with dedicated haul roads nearby and ore processing facilities typically within 50-100km. This infrastructure-rich area means that even modest scale gold mineralisation has potential to be commercialised, as underscored by the $10M sale of the company's Hobbes tenement in 2024.
With an active exploration pipeline and steady newsflow anticipated through the remainder of 2025 and into 2026, Solstice is positioning itself as a standout junior explorer in the gold sector. The upcoming drilling results from Bluetooth and Edjudina Range will be closely watched as potential catalysts for the company's next phase of growth.
