Flynn Gold Uncovers High-Grade Vein at Grenadier Prospect
Flynn Gold has launched its maiden diamond drilling program at the Double Event prospect within its 100%-owned Golden Ridge Project in Northeast Tasmania. This strategic initiative targets a high-grade gold system that remarkably has never been tested by modern drilling methods, positioning Flynn Gold uncovers high-grade vein at Grenadier prospect as one of the most exciting developments in Tasmania's gold sector.
Recent trenching results have confirmed the Double Event mineralised corridor extends for at least 275 meters in strike length and remains open in both directions. Observations from the recently completed Trench 10 indicate mineralisation continues a further 50 meters west, potentially extending the total strike extent to approximately 330 meters.
The company's systematic trenching program has exposed significant gold mineralisation hosted in ENE-trending quartz-sulphide veins, making this potentially one of the most significant discoveries in the region to date.
Impressive Gold Values from Trenching Program
The trenching program has yielded remarkable channel sample results that underscore the prospect's potential:
- Trench 8: 2.6m @ 6.4g/t Au, including 0.2m @ 15.2g/t Au and 0.8m @ 16.5g/t Au
- Trench 6: 0.4m @ 17.4g/t Au and 0.3m @ 17.0g/t Au
- Trench 5: 2.7m @ 2.6g/t Au, including 0.2m @ 23.5g/t Au
- Trench 4: 1.2m @ 9.5g/t Au
Additionally, new assay results further validate the mineralisation continuity:
- Trench 9: 1.7m @ 2.2g/t Au, including 0.8m @ 4.3g/t Au
- Trench 3: 1.3m @ 0.4g/t Au with 79.5ppm silver and 7,528ppm lead
These results demonstrate not only the presence of high-grade gold but also the potential for significant silver and base metal credits.
"We are excited to have commenced our maiden drilling program at Double Event, a prospect with known high-grade gold workings but which has never been tested by drilling," said Managing Director and CEO, Neil Marston. "The first diamond drilling program will test beneath the historical workings and recent trenches to provide critical insights into the continuity and depth extent of mineralisation first reported more than a century ago."
Historic High-Grade Gold Potential Finally Being Tested
The Double Event prospect carries an intriguing history, with government reports from 1899 describing a steeply-dipping quartz vein 0.6-0.9m wide returning assays up to 4.3oz/t Au (~133.7g/t Au) from the base of a 60-foot (18m) shaft. Despite these historical records indicating exceptional grades, the Double Event prospect has remained untested by modern exploration until Flynn Gold's current campaign.
Furthermore, recent sampling of mineralised quartz float from mullock dumps adjacent to the historical shaft returned high-grade gold assays including 7.9g/t, 18.5g/t, 40.9g/t and 44.5g/t Au, confirming the historical accounts of high-grade mineralisation.
Understanding the Geological Setting
The Golden Ridge project is interpreted to host an Intrusion-Related Gold System (IRGS), a specific type of gold deposit formed through the interaction of magmatic fluids with surrounding rocks.
At Double Event, gold mineralisation occurs in steep north-northwest-dipping, arsenopyrite-rich quartz veins ranging from 15mm to 200mm in thickness. These veins present as either discrete structures or in tight swarms, consistent with structural trends recorded at other high-grade prospects within the Golden Ridge Project.
What makes this system particularly promising is its strategic location near the intrusive contact of the Golden Ridge Granodiorite and Mathinna Supergroup metasediments. This geological setting creates ideal conditions for gold concentration, as the contrast in rock types establishes structural and chemical traps for mineralising fluids.
Maiden Drilling Program Details
Flynn Gold uncovers high-grade vein at Grenadier prospect as its exploration program advances with the maiden diamond drilling at the Double Event prospect. The first hole, EVDD001, is designed to reach a depth of 70m, targeting approximately 20m below the historical Double Event Shaft.
The carefully planned program comprises a series of short holes specifically designed to test high-grade quartz sulphide veins reported in historical records and confirmed in recent surface trenching activities.
Strategic Position in Tasmania's Gold Province
The Golden Ridge Project represents one of Flynn Gold's key assets in Tasmania. The company holds ten 100%-owned tenements in the northeast region that show high prospectivity for gold as well as tin/tungsten mineralisation.
The Double Event prospect is situated approximately 1km north of Flynn's high-grade Trafalgar prospect, along the same granodiorite-metasediment contact. This spatial relationship suggests the potential for a significant mineralised system extending throughout the project area.
Comprehensive soil geochemistry results indicate numerous untested targets exist along the contact area, with only a small portion explored to date, highlighting substantial exploration upside.
Future Exploration Plans
Flynn Gold has outlined a systematic approach for upcoming exploration activities:
- Additional trenching along strike to the east and west to assess the continuity of mineralisation at Double Event
- Completion of the maiden diamond drilling program at Double Event
- Thorough analysis of assay results from diamond drilling at the nearby Grenadier prospect
Investment Potential
Flynn Gold uncovers high-grade vein at Grenadier prospect and represents a compelling investment opportunity in the junior gold exploration sector for several reasons:
-
Unexplored High-Grade Potential: The company is pioneering modern exploration techniques at a historically documented high-grade gold prospect with historical assays of up to 133.7g/t Au.
-
Expanding Mineralisation Footprint: Recent trenching has confirmed an extensive mineralisation corridor of at least 330 meters that remains open, suggesting significant resource potential.
-
Multiple Prospective Targets: With the Double Event prospect located just 1km from the high-grade Trafalgar prospect along the same geological contact, Flynn Gold has multiple promising targets within its Golden Ridge Project.
-
Solid Financial Position: With $0.58M in cash (as of September 11, 2025) and no debt, the company maintains the financial flexibility to advance its exploration programs effectively.
-
Undervalued Market Position: With a market capitalisation of just $10.2M, successful drill results could trigger a significant revaluation as the company demonstrates the potential of its Tasmanian gold assets.
With assay results pending from both the Grenadier prospect drilling and ongoing work at Double Event, the coming months promise substantial news flow and potential catalysts that could reshape Flynn Gold's market position as it continues to uncover high-grade veins across its prospective tenement package.
