Augustus Minerals (ASX: AUG) has reported its highest gold assay to date from the Clifton East prospect at the Music Well Gold Project in Western Australia, with 19.5 g/t gold over 1 metre inside a broader interval of 8 metres at 3.27 g/t gold from 72 metres in hole MWRC0019. The June 2026 reverse circulation drilling program also confirmed wide zones of alteration and gold mineralisation across the prospect, while structural work from a recent diamond hole has pointed to a more targeted path for the next round of drilling.

The company also reported broader anomalous zones. These included intervals such as 23 metres at 0.19 g/t gold in MWRC0021, which point to a mineralised system of some width even where grades are lower.

Importantly, Augustus stated that all widths are downhole widths rather than true widths, as the exact geometry of the mineralisation is still being refined.

According to the drilling update, gold at Clifton East is associated with pervasive hematite, distal chlorite-epidote, and proximal silica-carbonate-pyrite alteration. In simpler terms, the host rocks have been chemically changed by mineral-rich fluids, and those changes can help geologists track the path of the gold system.

The announcement said this alteration and gold mineralisation has now been identified over 400 metres of strike, within the broader 1.2-kilometre soil anomaly. These veins are interpreted to be oblique to the broader alteration zones, which are now thought to dip to the north-northwest at about 40 degrees.
